Spring Mixed Competition
The course and tee time are to be advised. Refreshments are arranged for afterwards.
This year the format is American Greensomes. This is a mixed event with the pairings determined by a random draw. To enter put your name on the booking sheet in the usual way and you will be informed of pairings and tee times in due course.
On a gloriously sunny but windy Saturday, 14 mixed pairs battled it out for this years Spring Mixed Title. The afternoon commenced with Bacon Rolls and Coffee followed by 18 holes of hotly contested American Greensomes on the Dukes course. Despite some early morning rain the fairways ran faster than of late, making scoring difficult.
There were some good scores on the opening nine holes, however the more difficult inward nine of the Dukes Course proved tricky in a strengthening wind. By the end of the afternoon two pairings pulled clear of the field and took the top two spots.
Gina Jillett and Paul Brown emerged winners with 37 points three clear of Sheena Harrington and Stephen Mason on 34 points. Third spot was a close affair with three pairings tied on 32 points, however Jane Fraser and Tony Kopczak took the spoils on count back.
The afternoon concluded with some delicious cakes and drinks in the clubhouse and the presentation of the sweep prizes. A big thank you to all those who took part and contributed to a very sociable and enjoyable afternoons golf. A special thanks to those who helped with the organisation of the event, Lia, Alison and Sheena whose support helped make the afternoon the success that it was.
We are all looking forward to the next mixed Saturday event the Ladies Invitation on May the 16th.
