Mitcham Ladies – Home Leg
Result: 1-2 Loss
On a beautifully sunny but blustery day Richmond Park Ladies played a close match against Mitcham Ladies but lost by 2 games to 1.
The ball was running very well – too well in some cases – and we seemed to return with more balls than on the way out as hedges and ditches yielded some prize finds!
The return leg is to be played on the 8th August so we look forward to evening the score.
Platinum Jubilee
So the day finally arrived when we played Duke’s on the new configuration and what a momentous day it turned out to be. Of 48 entrants, only 50% managed to complete their medal round with the rest of us NR’ing at various stages around the course and one entrant even managing to fail to put his/her name on the card! The rough took its toll not only on the scores but also on the time it took to complete a round, but at least the weather was good.
Ed Henery obviously kept it straight down the middle, winning the first jubilee of the year by two shots with a net 73 from Jon Cooper and is rewarded with a handicap cut to 11. Ken Ukoko and Jim Fogarty were just one shot further adrift on 76. Results…
Scores were such, that is was a reduction only round.

Whitewebbs – Rd 1 v Easthampstead
Result: 116-95
The new format of the Whitewebbs saw 2 players from each team playing at home and 2 players playing away. The team with the highest aggregate individual stableford points wins the match.
Susan and Doreen played at home and Gina and Veronica played away.
Despite a nice sunny day and dry condition, the RPGC team were overcome by the opposing team losing 95 points to Easthampstead’s 116 points.
Thank you to the team and better luck next year.

Bogey Sweep/Committee Cup Rd 2
Ladies
Honours Board
The second round of the Committee Cup was the last competition on the 9-hole Prince’s course and I don’t think there will be many who will miss the 9th! Scoring remained low, with the rough eating up numerous balls. Jayne Maxwell took first place with 34 points, followed by Susan Smith and Val Riziotis on 32. CSS went up by 3 shots for the second week running. Results…
Val’s 4 point lead over Jayne after the first round, ensured that despite the reversal in positions this week, she maintained her lead to win the competition by two points from Jayne as the runner-up. Results…
Men
Tidy golf was rewarded in this challenging format – and many scores would have been improved but for penal rough (sometimes in the first cut) and slow greens. But Toby Hunt played an outstanding round – not losing a single hole and returning 8 up. One hole behind was Chris Jones and then Danny Deprez 6 up. Results…
CSS remained at SSS 6 up. This was the last competitive round on Prince’s 9 hole phase 2.
Summer Cup/Committee Cup Rd 1
Ladies
Honours Board
The beautiful sunny day helped ease the pain of the rough and the consequent amount of ball hunting. The weather also brought out a number of ladies who’d not played for a while and 14 took part in the first round of the Committee Cup.
Most of the field have a considerable task on their hands to catch Val Riziotis, who with a score of 36 points finished four ahead of Jayne Maxwell. Gina Jillett was a further two points behind. The general low scoring resulted in a CSS of 74. Results…
Men
Honours Board
A glorious late Spring day greeted competitors with a southerly/south-westerly breeze at times. For players finding the rough, this proved extremely penal and scores were held back with CSS reduced from 36 and SSS to 35 accordingly.
However, this proved no problem for the outstanding winner James Barker on 43 points. An extremely tidy round earned Steve Cross 2nd place with 40 points. James is rewarded with a single figure handicap. Results…
Ladies Invitation
Val Riziotis and partner Paul Brown conquered all challengers on a glorious day and a toughened course. Results…
Monthly Medals
Ladies
A small field of ladies braved the blustery conditions and the ever more penal rough, which resulted in considerable amounts of ball hunting. Despite finishing her round with a 9, the winner by three was Val Riziotis with a net 69 from Kate Emanuel on 72. CSS increased to 69 resulting in a handicap cut to 20 for Val. Results…

Wind and at times thick rough limited good scoring but Liam Bridger was the worthy winner on 64 followed a shot behind by Ken Ukoko and Paul Grand. CSS remained at SSS 64. Results…
