Hawtree – Rd 1 Vs Hoebridge
Result: 125-112
The Hawtree competition took place on 3 May on a brilliant sunshine day. The format was mixed Greensomes.
The club was represented by Amy Hocking, Ed Henery, Maureen Vincent-Slade and Richard Owen at Richmond Park. Val Riziotis, Paul Brown, Rianda Markram and James Barker represented the club at Hoebridge Golf Club.
It was a close run affair at Richmond Park as Amy and Ed won their match by 3 points and Maureen and Richard narrowly lost their match. James and Rianda won their match by a single point whilst Val and Paul came up against an in-form home team who ran away with the match.
The final result was 125-112. It was a really fun day and thank you to all the players for representing the club.
Clapham Common – Rd 1 v Brent Valley A
Result: 143-130
Our team of Tim, Pete D, James, Toby, Paul B, Richard, Brett and Pete Harrison played a strong Brent Valley A team in both a home and away leg.
Scoring from both our home and away pairings was consistently strong across the board. A battling team performance enabled us to emerge victors by 143 points to 130 points. Some impressive golf played by our guys without a doubt.
We are looking forward to taking on the challenge of our next opponents either Ruislip or Wexham Park in the next round. Well done Guys.
Hawtree Match
Another team that won through to the area semi-final. This time the home advantage went to Hoebridge – and that is a huge advantage at the best of times there with sloping and elevated greens. The advantage was even bigger on the day with parched fairways exaggerating the slopes and borrows even more. Each match was hard fought and close – but we went down four and a half to a half. Next year the format will take much of that home advantage away and – with the strong team we can field – we should do even better.
Clapham Common Match
Having fought though to the Area semi-final with two good results the team produced what had up till now been the second highest score in the country. Unfortunately it was not enough on the day but an incredibly consistent score from all the pairs home and away. We were unlucky not to have won but wish Ruislip (twice winners of the Clapham and twice runners up) good luck in the area final.
Clapham Common Match
Report due soon.
Clapham Common
A windy Sunday for the semi-final of the South London Clapham Common match. The format here is 3 men’s pairs at home and 3 away playing Greensomes Stapleford. The total points home and away are added up to find the winning team.
In tough conditions the home team averaged 37½ and won by 11 points. In tougher conditions at Lullingstone the away team fought well but lost by 16 giving the match to Lullingstone by 5 points overall.
A mere half a point swing in each game would have done it so a very well done – and a big thank you – to all who played. Results…
