Ladies

The Autumn Medal round is usually a well attended event, but perhaps most of the ladies had early warning of the forecast and unfortunately there were 2 Double C matches also taking place.

Amazingly 3 of the 4 of them struggled on against the wind and paddled through the rain to complete the 18 holes, despite a number of flooded greens. The three finishers were Susan Smith, Deborah Potter and Inge Mitchell in that order.

Men

Play was in atrocious conditions and many returned to clubhouse after 11 holes. However, Nick Rogers was undeterred, attired in shorts to win with a 67, two ahead of Stuart Kerr 69. The competition was ‘abandoned’ for handicap purposes, resulting in CSS=SSS 70 Reduction only with both Nick and Stuart being cut. Results…

The team event was hotly contested with Ed Hennery, Mark Scott, Nick Rogers and Osman Chaudry proving the winning group on 137, one ahead of Ewan Tait, Jon Cooper, Malcolm McKinlay and Stuart Kerr.

All gathered in the ‘cabin afterwards to wish Tony McCullagh all the best for the future and enjoy the splendid feast set out.

Another small field for the ladies, with a welcome return to golf for both Kate Emanuel, a mere 7 weeks after the birth of Thomas, and to Inge Mitchell. Sheena Harrington followed up last week’s 68 with a net 69 to win by four shots from Molly Hood on 73. Results…

Ladies

The combination of high temperature and humidity did nothing to help the ladies’ scoring and another low turnout invoked the ‘small field’ handicapping adjustment. This had the effect of increasing the CSS to 73, resulting in handicap adjustments for all bar the winner and runner-up.

Fiona Coombe continued her good run of form to win the medal with a net 75. Lia Donath took second spot with a net 77, beating Sheena Harrington courtesy of a better back nine. Results…

The hot humid conditions certainly suited Graeme Syme who romped home to win the August Monthly medal with a 2 over par net 60 – well done indeed. Four behind was Nigel Gaymond 64 and the Danny Deprez 67. Results…

The last day of London 2012 included the second round of the Club Championship.

Despite taking a 5 shot lead into the day, neither Sheena nor Rianda could match a dazzling display of golf from Jayne Maxwell, who made par after par to record a gross 82 and win by 7 shots on 179. Sheena Harrington was runner-up on 186. Final result…

The Handicap Cup shows the same result, with Jayne winning on a net 147 from Sheena on a net 156. Rianda also scored a net 156 to finish 3rd. Final result…
