Ladies

On a blustery day, the new Lady Captain followed her excellent shot for her drive-in with a magnificent 39 points, leaving the rest of the field trailing 10 points in arrears, with Sheena in second place. Results…

Not surprisingly, this has put her into the lead at the half-way stage of the Eclectic, with Sheena again in second place. R2 Leader board…

Men

The wind featured but otherwise conditions were fair and it was surprising that scoring was so low. Tony Kopczak was the clear winner on 36 points, one ahead of Toby Hunt and 3 clear of Russell Cavell, Simon Mandelbaum, Jim Deissler and Ed Henery. Results…

Tony was the only Cat 1-3 player (and only by 2/10ths of a shot) to come within 2 of SSS 38 points and so SSS fell -3 to 35 points with only Tony receiving any handicap reduction. Men’s handicap list…

In the associated Winter Competition, Graeme Syme now leads by a point from Toby hunt, Matt Mandelbaum and John Morris. R4 Leader board…

After 2 rounds Val still leads the Eclectic, followed closely by Lia after today’s winning score. R2 Leader board…

Men

New member Jon Scriven emerged the runaway leader with 45 points – well done Jon. Maintaining his consistent form, Graeme Syme scored 40 points to finish second. Tony Koczak, Hiro Ushido and Simon Mandelbaum followed 2 points further back. Results…

The competition was a non-qualifier for handicapping purposes, with 2 temps and the high probability of the course varying by more than 100 yards from the measured course. Further good play from Jon could see his handicap cut under the General Play provisions.

In the associated Winter Competition, Matt Mandelbaum leads Graeme Syme by 2 points. R3 Leader board…

And in the second round of the Prince’s Eclectic, Kerry Sargeant leads John Morris by 2 with a net 63 after ½ handicap allowance. R2 Leader board…

Great to be back on the golf course after all the snow.

Three ladies took advantage of the good weather on Sunday. Val stormed into the New Year with a superb 40 stableford points leaving Alison and Susan floundering in her wake!. Results…

Men

The winner of the monthly medal and Millennium trophy with 65 is Richard Owen. Perhaps Father Christmas gave Richard an indoor putting device since his putting was a sight to believe – especially from off greens into the hole. Second was Graeme Syme with a highly commendable 66 with Kerry Sargeant 3rd on 68. Results…

Conditions were favourable and CSS remained at SSS 66. Men’s handicap list…

Richard also leads the 2011 Birdie tree. New member Chris Jones leads the 2011 ‘Twos’.

Monthly Medal / Team Meeting

Ladies

With ice and snow on the greens it was more like crazy golf. The format was a Texas Scramble team game but with only 5 ladies the competition did not take place.  Despite all that it was a great day to be out playing golf.

Men

A small field braved the remnants of recent snow and found testing conditions on a number of greens. Nevertheless some good scores were returned and Graeme Syme emerged the winner on 69, one ahead of Gurpal Sekhon and Tony Kopczak. Results…

Champagne Chase

Posted in Competitions

Ladies

The coldest day of the year so far dawned for the Champagne Chase with temperatures of -4 degrees centigrade and less, frosty fairways even frostier greens and some very strange bounces! But then the sun came out and we all felt a lot better! Lia Donath won with 36 points and Jayne Maxwell was second with 31 points. Results…

Men

A sparkling 40 points earned Tony McCullagh victory in the competition and a bottle of champagne. Bubbling nicely 2 points behind was Jim Fogarty with an effervescent Kerry Sargeant taking 3rd place with 36 points. Conditions were tricky with a hard frost in the ground. Jim saved the comp from being a reduction only round. Results…

Winter Comp / Dukes Eclectic

Ladies

Nine brave Ladies turned up to play the the first round of the Dukes Eclectic on the day after the night before, the Dinner Dance and Prize giving, of course. In overcast and muddy conditions, the winner was Susan Smith achieving an excellent 37 points. Second was Val Riziotis with 33 points. Results…

Susan also leads after the first round of the cumulative Dukes Eclectic Competition and Val is second. R1 Leader board…

After all her hard work in helping to arrange the Dinner Dance, Veronica Mitchell was rewarded with a hole in one on the third. Many congratulations Veronica! The hole in one was duly celebrated with a few beers afterwards, even though the café shuts early these days!

Men

Conditions were played off white tees in ‘the wrong kind of mud’ which no doubt distracted a number of competitors. It was just right for heavy going specialist Matt Mandelbaum who won with a very creditable 40 points, 7 ahead of nearest rival Nick Rogers – earning a 4 playing shot reduction. Results…

Nick prevented a QRO round, being the only Cat 1-3 player within 2 of SSS 35. CSS was 3 under SSS 35 at 32. View Calculation…

Paul Doran takes the early lead in the Duke’s Eclectic from Matt, whilst Nick is one ahead in the Winter Competition.
