Winter Comp / Dukes Eclectic
Ladies
Nine brave Ladies turned up to play the the first round of the Dukes Eclectic on the day after the night before, the Dinner Dance and Prize giving, of course. After all her hard work in helping to arrange the Dinner Dance, Veronica Mitchell was rewarded with a hole in one on the third. Many congratulations Veronica! The hole in one was duly celebrated with a few beers afterwards, even though the café shuts early these days!

Conditions were played off white tees in ‘the wrong kind of mud’ which no doubt distracted a number of competitors. It was just right for heavy going specialist Matt Mandelbaum who won with a very creditable 40 points, 7 ahead of nearest rival Nick Rogers – earning a 4 playing shot reduction. Results…

An excellent 64 from Jess Melville secured the November Monthly Medal – just one ahead of another excellent 65 from John Ahad. The field were another 5 shots adrift in less than ideal playing conditions. Results…
The competition was declared a non-qualifier as it was not played over a measured course.

Two emerged from the pack with exceptional scores – Mike Rowe (66) the winner from Nigel Ward by a single shot. Ladies found conditions difficult with Kate Emanuel best on 80. Results…

A welcome return to Summer with blue skies and warm temperatures albeit with a stiff breeze set the scene for the October monthly medal. First was Kate Emmanuel, second was Jayne Maxwell and third was Lia Donath all three with net 72s. Results…

Autumnal conditions greeted competitors but the winner on count back was Lady Secretary Cheryl Woodhouse with 36 points from Graeme Syme. Cheryl started with a birdie and focused her steely concentration – indeed her play improved over the closing holes as the weather deteriorated. Paul Doran and Rick Smith were 3rd & 4th with 35s.
