Whitewebbs – Team A Rd 1 against Thorney Park
Result: 2½-2½ Win (playoff)
After a gruelling 5 hour round on Dukes, Richmond Park and Thorney Park were tied 2½ – 2½ with both Maureen Slade and Veronica Mitchell confidently and competently winning their matches and Cheryl Woodhouse and Jini Beacham missing out on theirs.
Di Jackett halved her match and therefore had to go up the 19th, winning at the first extra hole to secure the match for Richmond Park.
Thanks to all the ladies who played!
Coronation Cup & NAPGC Medal Qualifier
A birdie at the first hole proved to be a happy augury for John Bennett who went on to score a glorious 65 and be crowned the winner of the Coronation Cup. Paul Appleton and Nick Heale were close behind in the procession with excellent 66s. Best lady-in-waiting was Angela Flynn on 69. Results…
Balance of play for the men saw CSS unchanged from SSS 68. Men’s handicap list…
Exactly who goes forward from the club to the NAPGC competition depends as always on NAPGC’s numbers needed per handicap division. The Club will announce the qualifiers when the NAPGC advise.

Whitewebbs – Team B Rd 1 at Blue Mountain
Result: 3-2 Loss
Richmond Park B team travelled to Blue Mountain near Bracknell to play in the first round of the Ladies’ Whitewebbs competition on 22nd April 2007. Many thanks to those taking part who were Julie Smith, team captain for the day, Tracy Wright, Lia Donath, Jan Oliver & Ros Gray. Despite 2 very good wins from Lia & Ros, the remaining 3 couldn’t quite close out their very close matches, so, unfortunately, Richmond Park went down 3-2.

Qualifier for Men’s Singles Matchplay
Pace of play and difficulty in finding balls made scoring conditions tough, despite glorious warm sunny conditions. Most players have at least one ‘mare of a score on a hole but Lee Eden and David Keen persevered to take the two top spots with 71s closely followed a shot behind by John Ahad and the five players with 73s. Results…
With no category 1-3 players scoring within two of SSS before the application of Clause 19.8, CSS was elevated to 73 and this was a Reduction Only round.
This was the qualifier for the Men’s singles knockout competitions – the JH Taylor Shield and Two Courses Cup. The top 15 plus holders go through to the knockout stage in the two competitions – for the under-17 and 17-28 handicap ranges.
The cut fell at 86 for the JH Taylor and 85 for the Two Courses. JH Taylor Draw… & Two Courses Cup Draw…

Hawtree – Team A Rd 1 v Batchwood Hall
Result: 3-2 Loss
Team
Ros Gray & Toby Hunt
Tracy Wright & Kerry Sargeant
Julie & Ian Smith
Maureen Slade & Richard Owen
Veronica Mitchell & Jon Cooper
The 2007 Hawtree mixed pairs competition started for Richmond Park at Batchwood Hall near Beaconsfield, which is also where it has ended.
The format is foursomes (partners taking alternate shots), which gives the pairs plenty of time to look at the course. Batchwood is a pretty course and well worth a visit. Neither too long nor too tight, it still gives a challenge with some interesting sloping lies and tricky greens.
The Batchwood Hall team eased to a victory by 3 games to 2. This was actually tighter than it looks as Toby Hunt with Ros Gray and Kerry Sargeant with Tracey Wright both halved their matches. Ian Smith with Julie Smith and Richard Owen with Maureen Slade were both on the losing end while Jon Cooper with Veronica Mitchell won their game.
I would like to thank all the team for turning out and giving their best – it was a close run thing!
