2006 Mary Forster Bowl

The Mary Forster Bowl is a long running Women’s Winter Competition which sees teams from different regions of the country battling it out in all weathers and conditions to find the Regional winners. The event culminates in all these Regional winners competing in the national final played in April.

Both teams from Richmond Park Ladies section were drawn to compete in the same regional group. The Group consisted of Brent Valley, Easthampstead, Huntswood, “The Divettes” (Maureen Vincent’s team) and “The Drop Outs” (Capt Ann Gardner, Di Jackett, Doreen Dolby, Jan Oliver, Cheryl Woodhouse and Lia Donath).

The Group play off was tightly fought by both Richmond Park teams and following an extremely close and critical count back, the Drop Outs won and were through to the National Final held at Queen’s Park in Bournemouth on Sunday 23rd April.

The Drop Outs were one of 10 teams to participate in the National Finals.

Di Jackett, Doreen Dolby and Jan Oliver all represented the Drop Outs in the Final on this extremely tricky course. Thanks go to Arthur, who took the team in hand and chauffeured us all down for a successful practice day on the Thursday before the great Sunday match!

It is with great pride that we announce that the Drop Outs were awarded Runner Up of the Mary Forster Bowl 2006 – excellent result!!! Proof that we can compete at a National level.
