2003 Airlinks Friendly Matches

2002 | 2004

The Men's Section plays a friendly match against Airlinks Golf Club every year consisting of separate home and away legs. Each leg is six games of doubles matchplay. The overall winner of the two matches claims the Airlinks ~ RPGC trophy for the year.

Last year RPGC was the winner.

The Captain has posted a notice on the Club notice board for those wishing to sign up for either leg of the match. Alternatively, contact the Captain directly.

The teams and results will be posted here, so check back regularly to see how the team gets on.

Airlinks brought out their big guns and managed a complete white wash of Richmond Park in the first leg. They obviously have room for that trophy now.

The Club has it all to do in the second leg. However fanciful it may sound, a similar but reverse result at home in September will allow the Club to retain the trophy.

Home Leg 27th September
Result: 4-2

Richmond Park put up a gallant effort in attacking a 6-0 deficit after the first round. The lads won the first four games in the home match and a miracle result suddenly looked possible. However the final two games were lost on the 18th in a nail biting finish. The overall result was 4-8.

Geoff Foreman & Mark Bean won the sweep with 51 points with David Marsh and Michael Rossiter second on 45 points.

Captain Martin Wright adds his big THANKS to all who took part in this year's matches and hopes they will all want to take part next again next year.
