Hersham GC Away day - Report
26 May

Not a drop if rain since February and the RPGC away day at Hersham on the 26th May had a weather forecast for heavy showers and possible lightning. Typical!

Everyone managed to find the course on time and the morning opened with a 9 hole Texas Scramble. Everyone enjoyed the format and - unusually - it was played quickly too.

We broke for a drink and snacks before venturing out for the afternoon 18 hole stableford. As well as individual competitions for the men and ladies there was a team 6/6/6 competition too.

Black couds rolled around the edges of the course and we were treated to a few showers but on the whole the day stayed remarkably dry for us, only really pouring once we had sat down for supper.

Susan Smith's team won the Texas Scramble with a creditable 3 under gross and 7 under net. The stableford team event was won by Ann Koychev's team with 86 points - 4 clear of the field.

Sheena Harrington won the ladies stableford with 36 points and Gurpal Sekhon won the men's event with a whopping 41 points (8 clear of the nearest competitor).

The day was very much enjoyed by everyone and we will be looking to see if we can run another away day later in the year if the demand from members is there.
