The club’s final Saturday event of 2008, the Autumn Mixed Foursomes, was played in glorious late summer weather on the Dukes Course. The good weather, and probably the playing of the Ryder Cup this same weekend, resulted in the course being very busy and 5-hour rounds were the order of the day.

Fourteen pairs competed for the trophies, which will be awarded at the annual Presentation Dinner and Dance. The Handicap Winners were John Morris & Julie Smyth with an excellent 65. Runners up for the Handicap competition, and winners of the Scratch competition, were Ian & Julie Smith with a gross score of 78, net 68.5. In third place was the last minute pairing of Dave Williams and Jan Oliver with a net 69.5.

Di Jackett laid on a great spread for us all to enjoy afterwards, as well as doing much of the organisation for the event. Many thanks to her, and Jon.
