Ladies Autumn Weekend Away - Report
28-30 September

The Ladies' autumn weekend away was at Ufford Park in Suffolk from 28th-30th September 2007. 28 Members and partners attended.

The course was an undulating par 71 course, surrounded by beautiful countryside and views.

Although driving rain persuaded the less fool-hardy not to venture out onto the course on Friday, the weather turned warm and sunny on Saturday and Sunday.

Peter Harrington got a hole in one on the 3rd on Sunday. The wind added to the lower scores on Friday and Saturday and many balls were lost in the small ponds and lakes in front of the greens.

On Sunday however, Gurpal Sekhon scored a very creditable 42 pts to add to his previous day's points and win the 36 hole overall men's competition. This was also his first time on a weekend away.

The ladies were playing for the "Gill Hibbs Trophy" for the first time. The trophy has been donated by Sonia Inniss and Maureen Slade and is entitled "The Eternal Flame" and is in memory of Gill who died this year after battling bravely with cancer for several years. Gill always attended the weekends away and has organised several in the past.

The Gill Hibbs Trophy was won by Anne Koychev with 63 pts on a count back on the best back 18 just piping Angela Flynn into second place. It was Angela's first time on a weekend away.
