Another sunny albeit windy Saturday saw the second Saturday event of the 2015 season with 24 mixed couples doing battle in the Ladies Invitation. The day began with bacon rolls which seemed to go down a treat followed by hotly contested American Greensomes and then lemon drizzle cake with raspberry sauce to round things off.

The winners with 38 points were Val Riziotis and Paul Brown squeezing out Lia Donath and Ed Henery also with 38 points with a better back nine. In third place with 34 points were Sheena Harrington and Paul Patching.

Readers of this notice who participated in this competition will note that the order of the top two places is reversed from what was announced on the day. This is because when the results were processed in Masterscoreboard we realised that because the scoring was off the men's card the ladies should have had 2 shots added to their handicaps before calculating the handicap allowance for each couple. A recalculation meant that while Lia and Ed's handicap allowance remained at 12, Val and Paul's handicap allowance went up from 13 to 14, this in turn meant that they scored 38 points (instead of the 37 announced on the day) and won with a better back nine.

My apologies for the confusion as Lady Captain and the person who calculated the handicap allowances on the day. We look forward to the next mixed Saturday event which is the Men's Invitation on 11 July, the format, American Greensomes, will be the same and hopefully we will get the handicap calculation right!
