Ladies SPRING Weekend Away - Report
6-8 April
19 ventured to a new location, the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, home of one of Hampshire's cricket pitches. It was a short course with seven par 3s, opened only for 18 months and built on reclaimed land. It played very similarly to the new holes on Princes, and was just as wet underfoot - so not quite the relatively easy challenge that we thought, but at least the weather held up better than expected. With so many par 3s it was decided not to add to the challenge with any nearest the pins.
Scoring was not great for most, but the Lockie Trophy was won by our organiser, Veronica Mitchell with a stellar performance of 34 and 36 points. Joan Mulcahy, playing coincidentally in the same game on Sunday was just 1 shot back after her 33 on Saturday. In 3rd place was Jayne Maxwell.
With just six men, there was just an overall weekend winner, who was stunned to be so - Peter Harrington with 2 consistent rounds.
A big thank you to Veronica who organised our stay, drafted the games order and purchased the prizes.
