Stroke Allowance
Through 2005 (Subsequent)
In those events where both the ladies and men are competing, a stroke allowance must be made for the differences in the respective standard scratch scores between the ladies’ course and the men’s course. The stroke allowance is ‘given to’ or 'deducted from' the ladies' handicap.

Notes and explanation
- The ladies’ extra shot allowance is based on the higher standard scratch score of the ladies’ card as compared with the men’s card.
- The ladies’ extra shot allowance is based on the difference between
the SS and Par for the men’s and ladies’ cards.
For example: for the Princes White tee course, if a man plays to his handicap and scores a net 67 (SS), then with a Par of 69 he will score 38 points in Stableford. If a lady has an equivalent net 70 (SS) then with a Par of 71 she will have a score of 37 points - hence the lady shall receive a one shot allowance.
- When playing the Dukes White tee course, if a man plays to his handicap and scores a net 69 (SS) he will score 36 points in Stableford where the Par is also 69. A lady playing to an equivalent net 71 (SS) will score 37 points where her Par is 72, hence the lady's allowance will be -1.
