Ladies Autumn Weekend Away - Report
3-5 October

The autumn weekend away has been dedicated to Gill Hibbs, who died in February 2007. She was a member who always participated in our weekend aways and occasionally organised them. A trophy in her memory is presented to the lady overall winner.

A tired, but elated party of 22 returned from three days of golf in the Montreuil-sur-Mer area. We stayed at a lovely hotel for two nights and played 3 courses.

Le Touquet La Foret was our first and an easy start in benign conditions. Next day it was a short drive to Nampont St Martin Les Cygnes to a Norman chateau, surrounded by water - serious hazards on at least 15 holes with the added excitement of strong winds and mud owing to the rain!

Many people lost dozens of golf balls, but Ros Gray adapted to the conditions and scored an incredible 43 points. Sunday was a severe weather day, with driving rain and wind, but Belle Dune golf course had us all enraptured, so we hardly noticed the weather, until we got back to the clubhouse soaking wet. The setting of dunes, sea and pine forests provided a challenging but enjoyable course.

Many won prizes, but the principal winners over two days are listed below.
