Local Rules [1 November 2002]

The Committee has confirmed seasonal local rules. There is a temporary local rule to deal with newly fallen trees and branches. And there are local rules now in force for winter rules and relief for embedded ball.


Top Dog [28 October 2002]

Stewart Kendall ‘crufted’ a 77 which was good enough to earn 4 more points for the Top Dog Trophy and become the winner outright. Stewart therefore retains the title – well done indeed. More...


New Birdies [23 October 2002]

A bit of trivia for you from Dave Marsh:

"Those strange looking geese we saw on the 17th/18th holes on Sunday are called 'Egyptian Geese'. Apparently introduced into this country 300 years ago, but of the 900 breeding pairs in this country, 95% reside in the county of Norfolk, where they were introduced. Oddly, for a water bird, they are apparently quite happy roosting in trees and will nest in hollows."

Clapham Common Team is Defeated [19 September 2002]

After several close results in previous rounds, Richmond Park met their match in the fifth round of the Clapham Common competition last Sunday.

Richmond Park Closure [2 September 2002]

The rumours are true. The Royal Parks management has belatedly confirmed that Richmond Park will be closed for a privately sponsored event on Sunday 22 September. Top Dog is Halfway There [25 July 2002]

The competition for the Top Dog Trophy reached the halfway position after the Captain's Day last Sunday.

Clapham Common Team Settled for Next Round [18 July 2002]

Captain Martin Wright stayed with a winning formula in selecting the team for Round Three of the Clapham Common competition against Lullingstone Park on 28 July. Click here for the details.


Clapham Common Team Wins Again [10 July 2002]

Richmond Park won through the second round of the Clapham Common competition against Addington Court. For the details click here.


Bourne Vanneck Outome [8 July 2002]

Richmond Park were denied a chance to qualify for the next round of the Bourne Vanneck when Dave Parkinson was forced to retire after three holes with a back injury. Although the rest of the team of Stewart Kendall, Paul Grand and Phil Flanagan soldiered on at the Tilgate Forrest Golf Club, they knew their efforts would be in vain as the competition is based on the results of all four team members.

Bad luck boys. And let's hope that Dave recovers soon.


Temporary Local Rule [30 June 2002]

The Committee has decreed that the new drainage channels on the greens and at the approaches to greens may be regarded as ‘machinery marks’. Click here for the new temporary local rule.


RPGC holds on at Airlinks [29 June 2002]

Richmond Park kept within reach of Airlinks in the away leg of the annual friendly match. They have a 2-4 deficit to make up at home in August. Click here for further details.


RPGC wins Association Cup [29 June 2002]

The two pairing of Mark Bean & Tim Meyer and Stewart Kendall & Paul Grand have won the Association Cup for Richmond Park Golf Club. Putney Park finish second. Click here for the rest of the story.


Bourne Vanneck Team Selected [25 June 2002]

The Captain has selected the team for the Annual Bourne Vanneck competition on Saturday 7 July. The event is held at Tilgate Forest, tee times to be advised.

The team is Paul Grand, Dave Parkinson, Phil Flanagan and Peter Harrington. More information will appear here as it becomes available.


Association Cup Team Selected [25 June 2002]

Captain Martin Wright has finalised the team for the Association Cup competition this Saturday 29 June. This is the annual competition for the Association Cup run by the Association of Richmond Park Golf Clubs (ARPGC). To view the team and the competition details click here.


Hawtree Team Two Reaches End of Road [24 June 2002]

Team Two lost in a play-off in the second round of the Hawtree Competition after halving the regular match. They visited Wycombe Golf Club and just missed out on advancing to the next round. Click here for more details.

Events Postponed [26 May 2002]

Two events have been postponed from their originally scheduled dates. These are the President's Putter, scheduled for 26 May and the Ladies Invitation originally scheduled for Saturday 1 June. The Captain and Lady Captains are working on new fixture dates. We'll let you know as soon as new information is available.


Hawtree Team Two Wins [18 May 2002]

Team Two won through to the second round of the Hawtree Competition. They visited Little Hay Golf Club in Hemel Hempstead and came away victors. Click here for more details.


Summer Event Announced [18 May 2002]

The Club has finalised details of this year's Summer Event - a BBQ at the Rosslyn Park Rugby Club on Saturday 10 August. Yes - that's just after the Bontor Trophy is contested - so one group will have fresh gloating rights. Click here for the details.


Men's Friendlies Team Sheet Posted [12 May 2002]

Captain Martin Wright has posted the sign-up sheets for the friendly competitions this summer against Rickmansworth and Airlinks. Check the club house notice board or contact the Captain if you want to sign up for the home or away legs of either of the matches.


Clapham Common Team Wins [11 May 2002]

Hawtree Team One Falls [4 May 2002]

Team One fell at the first hurdle in the Hawtree Competition. They faced a strong side from Abbey Hill Golf Club of Milton Keynes on our own Dukes Course which was looking its best this year so far. To read the sad details click here.


Spring Mixed Foursomes Results [30 April 2002]

The Lady Captain, Cynthia King, and her playing partner Jon Cooper stormed off with the winners prizes in this year's Spring Mixed Foursomes. They scored 38 points to leave the pairing of Pat King and Maureen Slade, the Lady Vice Captain, trailling in second place. Click here to read the whole story.


Summer Knockout Draws Posted [18 April 2002]

The Competitions Secretary, Stewart Kendall, has posted the draws for the summer knockout competitions -  JH Taylor Shield, Two Courses Cup, Men's Doubles and the Mixed Doubles.

President's Putter Postponed [14 April 2002]

Due to illness of our President Geoff Seed that prevents him from picking up his clubs at the moment, the President's Putter has been postponed from 21 April to 26 May. In its original slot will be a Two-Ball Texas Scramble.


Clapham Common Team Selected [13 April 2002]

Captain Martin Wright has selected the team for the first round of the Clapham Common Competition against Shoreham Kent on 11 May. The Clapham Common is a national men's greensome knockout competition run by the NAPGC.

Hawtree Teams Selected [13 April 2002]

Captains Martin Wright and Cynthia King have selected the teams for the first round of the Hawtree Competition. The Hawtree is a national mixed foresome knockout competition run by the NAPGC.
