October Monthly Medal [10 October 2003]

The winner is Dave Parkinson 65 (including a triple bogey on 18) followed by David Marsh 67 , Michael Rossiter 68 and Robert Urquhart 69. Results...

There were no fewer than 10 disqualifications from the competition, including tragically Tony Pickard who would otherwise have won (a double whammy for Tony since he’s also been cut 2 shots) – but who now contributes to CSS computation as a category 3 player).

Furthermore, no sweep entries were received from Michael Rossiter or Robert Urquhart whose scores would have put them in the money. Phil Flanagan and Ian Smith benefit in their places. Plenty of clause 19.8 adjustments applied for the lower orders in breezy conditions which left CSS unchanged from SSS at 68.

With none of the top 6 in the Grand Medal Trophy returning a valid score (and Dave Winter playing doubles match), the final positions are unchanged from the 7th round. Paul Patching is the worthy winner on 322 from Dave Winter 331. Full results...

Airlinks Friendly [5 October 2003]

The Club won 4-2 at home against Airlinks on 27 September. However it wasn't enough to overturn the deficit from the away leg and the Club lost 8-4 on aggregate. More...

JQ Robertson [30 September 2003]

Fiesal Bacchus eclipsed Richard Owen on the back 9 (both 43 points) to take the JQ Robertson in a round of no fewer than 4 birdies and punctuated by 2 ‘blobs’. Well done to Fiesal who travels to Forest of Arden GC in a competition with Tony Hennessy. David Marsh emerged 3rd ahead of best lady Cheryl Woodhouse on the back 9, both with 42 points. More...

The Top Dog positions have changed as a result. With neither Toby Hunt nor Alex Harrison adding to their points, David Marsh now takes the lead by 2 from Fiesal Bacchus with Toby Hunt a further 2 points away. Arithmetically any of the top 5 could win, so attention will focus on the last event (Lissaman Cup) on the 26th October. Results so far...

Golden Jubilee [28 August 2003]

Paul Patching triumphed in the Golden Jubilee with a 65 just ahead of Jan Oliver, also 65, by the benefit of a better back 9. Jon Cooper and Bill McSorley followed with 69s. Results...

After three rounds of the Anniversary Trophy Jon Cooper's consistency gives him a 9 shot advantage from Caryl Goldsworthy and Toby Hunt. However, a late challenge may come this Sunday in the Platinum Jubilee from a number of players with only 2 Jubilees played. Paul Patching, the obvious contender, is ruled out having a prior engagement for the day on a French course. More...

With just the finals of the JH Taylor and Two Courses knockout competitions remaining, minimum points have been allocated as well as Golden Jubilee points. Toby Hunt is the new Top Dog leader on 22 points from Alex Harrison and David Marsh. Reflecting the hard going, CSS was reduced 1 from SSS 69 to 68 with only the winner receiving a handicap adjustment for the day's efforts. Results...

Interest perked up in the clubhouse at the impact on the Grand Medal Trophy and whilst Dave Winter still leads, Toby has picked up 5 shots and Mark Bean 10. It's still a wide open contest. And let's not forget that Paul Patching lies waiting to pounce with 4 good scores in so far. Results after Rd 6...

Best RPGC Lady was Jan Oliver (70) [ladies received 2 shots].
